Melcom Shopping Center Disaster

In Ghana, I visited two malls: Accra Mall and Melcom. The former is two stories with a movie theater, Apple store, and mainly primarily designer clothing stores. Melcom is a four-story behemoth comparable to a Walmart. Shortly before opening for business yesterday, the building’s foundation collapsed.

Ever since I traveled to South Korea last summer with the Experiment in International Living, I’ve had a strong interest in the inter-Korean conflict. The death of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il, the latest event in the saga, has sparked waves of interest around the world (and all over my Facebook) about the North Korean regime.
